CONVERSATION
Tonight, I can tell from the questions he asks,
about dead insects, pets, and cemeteries,
that mortality is on his mind.
Last weekend, at breakfast over pancakes,
he circled around killing and war.
How much longer will this last,
where two humans, two generations apart,
have conversations without off-limits?
How do you give good answers, when mostly
you have none yourself?
