Apparition in the Foothills
Apparition in the Foothills
8" x 12"

Aloneness--whether it be a welcoming sense of solitude or a disturbing sense of isolation--is a human condition which I seek to paint often. Philosopher and theologian Paul Tillich said "Language created the word 'solitude' to express the glory of being alone." But isolation can also cause pain. The word "apparition" is capable of conveying both types of aloneness, I use the word frequently in the titles of images.
